The Mercedes-Benz S-Class has long been the benchmark for luxury sedans. It’s had 50+ years to dial in its successful formula of thrilling performance combined with unbeatable ride comfort and tasteful interior options. Buckle in and get comfortable, as we’re going to dive into what each of 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class trims have to offer.
Exploring the Trim Levels of the 2025 Mercedes-Benz S-Class
S 500 4MATIC Sedan
Motivating the base S 500 trim is a 3.0L turbocharged mild-hybrid inline-six engine, producing 442 horsepower and 413 lb-ft of torque. The S 500, like the others, is standard all-wheel drive. This engine provides enough power to add thrills to your everyday drives, while also keeping your gas money in your pocket, thanks to a 31 mpg highway rating.
Base-level comfort is high. The S 500 comes with heated, ventilated, and massaging front seats upholstered in leather. High-end materials can be found everywhere, such as in the wood and metal trim. Rear passengers get the limo experience, with 44 inches of rear legroom. Add to all of that ambient lighting, a panoramic sunroof, soft-close doors, and power sunshades, and it’s easy to see why the S-Class dominates its class.
S 580 4MATIC Sedan
The S 580 trim upgrades to a 4.0L twin-turbo mild-hybrid V8 engine that delivers 496 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque. This more powerful engine increases straight-line speed, accelerating from 0 to 60 mph in only 4.3 seconds. Although all three models look quite similar on the outside, the S 580 can be differentiated by its richer chrome accents and 20-inch wheels (compared to the S 500’s 19-inch wheels).
To the long list of baseline interior amenities, the S 580 adds a heated steering wheel and Nappa leather upholstery. The optional Executive Line package, which is only available for S 580 or S 580e, adds full rear-cabin luxury, with heated/ventilated/massaging rear seats with heated headrests, rear footrests, and more rear airbags. In a rare feature for a sedan, a rear-seat entertainment system is part of the package, too.
S 580e 4MATIC Sedan
The S 580e trim takes the base 3.0L turbo I6 engine and adds an electric motor, creating a plug-in hybrid powertrain. It produces a combined 503 horsepower and 553 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can travel up to 47 miles only using electricity before the gas engine kicks in. The charge port is hidden on the rear bumper, and there are no visible exhaust pipes, giving the model a sleeker look. Interior amenities are identical to the S 580, with premium comfort made standard.
Given the high level of standard luxury seen across the S-Class’ trims, deciding on a model will be a hard choice. We know these models inside and out, and would love to help you figure out which one is best for you. Contact Mercedes-Benz of Milwaukee North in Milwaukee, WI to get started.
