What’s New for 2027

The headline change for 2027 is a structural safety upgrade: rear head airbags are now standard on every CLE Cabriolet, making this the first Mercedes-Benz Cabriolet to offer them. Combined with the center airbag between the front seats, the CLE Cabriolet now carries 11 airbags total.

A fingerprint scanner in the center console is added for 2027, allowing the car to recall a driver’s full profile without any manual input. The GUARD 360° system gains exterior camera picture-taking functionality, extending its security role beyond passive monitoring.

The Mercedes-AMG® CLE 53 Cabriolet joins the U.S. lineup as the performance flagship, bringing a 443 hp AMG®-enhanced 3.0L inline-6 turbo with an electric auxiliary compressor, AMG® Performance 4MATIC®+ all-wheel drive, active rear-axle steering, and AMG® RIDE CONTROL suspension. The 11.9-inch center touchscreen gains electrical tilt adjustment from 15 to 40 degrees on all models, and the Burmester® 3D Surround Sound System now includes seat-integrated headrest speakers across the board.

Performance and Powertrain

All three models use a 48V mild hybrid system paired to a turbocharged gasoline engine. The mild hybrid provides torque fill from the integrated starter-generator, improving low-rpm response and enabling the ECO Start/Stop system to function more smoothly.

NANOSLIDE cylinder wall technology is shared across all three engines. Each drivetrain routes power through 4MATIC® all-wheel drive or AMG® Performance 4MATIC®+ all-wheel drive, and all use a 4-wheel Electronic Traction System. DYNAMIC SELECT drive mode selection is standard on the CLE 300 4MATIC® Cabriolet and CLE 450 4MATIC® Cabriolet; AMG® DYNAMIC SELECT and AMG® DRIVE UNIT are standard on the Mercedes-AMG® CLE 53 Cabriolet.

The CLE Cabriolet seats four, with 40.2 inches of front headroom and 36.0 inches of rear headroom with the top up. Front shoulder room measures 55.7 inches; rear shoulder room is 48.1 inches. Cargo capacity behind the rear seats is 9.6 cubic feet.

Every model includes heated power front seats with memory, seat-shaped controls, AIRSCARF® neck-level heating, AIRCAP® electric wind deflector, dual-zone automatic climate control, 60/40-split folding rear seats, an electric trunk partition, power-folding side mirrors, KEYLESS GO®, HANDS-FREE ACCESS, and remote opening and closing of both the windows and the soft top.

The all-season power soft top is available in black or grey. Exterior finishes span seven standard colors: Black, Polar White, Sun Yellow, Obsidian Black metallic, Graphite Grey metallic, Cirrus Silver metallic, and Starling Blue metallic. Technology and Infotainment

Every 2027 CLE Cabriolet ships with third-generation MBUX built around a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and an 11.9-inch portrait-format center touchscreen that adjusts electrically between 15 and 40 degrees. The zero-layer menu concept surfaces the most relevant functions without requiring the driver to dig through submenus.

The Routines function, standard on the CLE 450 4MATIC® Cabriolet and Mercedes-AMG® CLE 53 Cabriolet and available as part of the MBUX Profiles, Routines and Templates option on the CLE 300 4MATIC® Cabriolet, allows the car to anticipate preferences based on context, including time, location, and driver profile. Biometric authentication via fingerprint scanner in the console recalls the full driver profile automatically.

Voice Control with Natural Language Understanding responds to “Hey, Mercedes” commands. Wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto are standard, as is a wireless charging pad. Three USB-C ports handle device charging throughout the cabin.

The Burmester® 3D Surround Sound System is standard on all models: 660 watts, 17 speakers, with seat-integrated headrest speakers for an immersive open-air listening experience. Sound Personalization, Dolby Atmos, and Apple Spatial Audio are included. A SiriusXM with 360L trial subscription and HD Radio receiver are standard.
