What’s New for 2027

The headline addition for 2027 is the standard fitment of DIGITAL LIGHT LED headlamps with lightband across both models, a feature previously found only on selected configurations. The full PRESAFE® suite now expands to include PRESAFE® PLUS and PRESAFE® Impulse Side on every EQS SUV, alongside the newly standard Car-to-X Communication that connects the vehicle to road-infrastructure data in real time.

MANUFAKTUR Nappa leather upholstery moves to an available option package on the EQS 400 4MATIC® SUV, broadening personalization for buyers who previously had to step up to the EQS 550 4MATIC® SUV. OFFROAD mode with the “Transparent Hood” display and Downhill Speed Regulation (DSR) are also now part of the standard feature set on both models, adding light off-road capability to what was already a commanding electric SUV.

The EQS 550 4MATIC® SUV now ships with Multicontour front seats with massage and Nappa leather upholstery in the standard equipment list, items that required option packages in prior years. Six 100W USB-C charging ports and rear-cabin wireless charging are standard across the lineup.

Performance & Powertrain

Both models use Dual Permanently Excited Synchronous Motors (PSM) and the same 118-kWh battery pack. The EQS 400 4MATIC® SUV produces 355 hp (265 kW combined) and 590 lb-ft, with a 0-60 mph time of 5.9 seconds. The EQS 550 4MATIC® SUV delivers 536 hp (400 kW combined) and 633 lb-ft, cutting that run to 4.6 seconds.

DC fast-charging at up to 200 kW brings the battery from 10 to 80 percent in 31 minutes via CCS connector. AC charging runs at 9.6 kW (J1772), covering a full 10-to-100-percent charge in approximately 14 hours. A Mercedes-Benz NACS DC Fast-charging Adapter is included, enabling access to compatible fast-charging networks, including select Tesla Supercharger stations. MB.CHARGE Public gives drivers access to a broad public charging network through the vehicle’s systems.

AIRMATIC® adaptive air suspension with Adaptive Damping System Plus (ADS Plus) is standard. Both models support towing up to 3,500 lbs with the available Class II trailer hitch. OFFROAD mode, Downhill Speed Regulation, and an OFFROAD dash display with “Transparent Hood” are part of the standard package, making the EQS SUV more capable on unpaved surfaces than its predecessor.

Seven-passenger seating is available on both models via the optional third row, which includes optional heated third-row seats with 50/50 split folding. Second-row seats are power-operated with 40/20/40 split folding and are heated as standard. With the third row in use, the EQS SUV accommodates up to seven occupants. Cargo capacity ranges from 23 to 74 cubic feet depending on seat configuration.

Front headroom measures 40.7 inches and front legroom 40.6 inches. Rear passengers have 40.6 inches of headroom and 41.3 inches of legroom. Standard 4-zone automatic climate control manages temperature across all seating rows, with an optional 5-zone system adding independent rear-zone control.

The EQS 550 4MATIC® SUV ships standard with Nappa leather upholstery and Multicontour front seats with massage. The EQS 400 4MATIC® SUV gains access to those features through the Exclusive Trim package. Both models offer optional MANUFAKTUR Nappa leather and a Black or Grey microfiber headliner. The Chauffeur Package is available for owners who prioritize rear-cabin passenger comfort, and optional rear-cabin upholstered pillows, neck heating, and the MBUX Rear Seat Entertainment system are available on both models.

64-color LED ambient lighting is standard, with optional active ambient lighting and adaptive rear cabin lighting available on both models.

Technology & Infotainment

The MBUX Hyperscreen unifies three separate displays under a single 56-inch curved glass surface: a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster on the left, a 17.7-inch OLED central touchscreen in the center, and a 12.3-inch OLED passenger display on the right. The Zero-layer menu concept surfaces the most relevant functions without requiring the driver to navigate nested menus. “Hey, Mercedes” voice control uses natural language understanding to process conversational commands.

MBUX Navigation with Electric Intelligence plots routes accounting for real-time traffic, road topography, and charging locations, so the vehicle can plan charging stops along the route. MBUX Augmented Video for Navigation overlays turn-by-turn directions onto a live camera feed. Route-based Speed Adaptation adjusts speed proactively before curves and speed-limit changes.

Burmester® 3D Surround Sound delivers 710 watts through 15 speakers. Dolby Atmos and Apple Spatial Audio are both supported. Wireless Apple CarPlay and wireless Android Auto are standard. Six 100W USB-C ports are distributed through the cabin. Front-cabin and rear-cabin wireless charging with NFC pairing are both included. Biometric authentication and over-the-air software update capability help keep the vehicle current without a dealer visit. An optional MBUX Augmented Reality Head-Up Display and in-car WiFi are available for buyers who want added layers of connectivity.

Safety & Driver Assistance

The 2027 EQS SUV carries a broad standard safety suite. PARKTRONIC with Active Parking Assist supports parking maneuvers. The Surround View System provides a multi-camera 3D view of the vehicle’s surroundings. GUARD 360° security system monitors the vehicle remotely and activates cameras when a threat is detected.
